Terms of Use
Last updated: 6 November 2026
§ 1 Provider and scope
QuranH is a learning app for memorising the Quran, as a website at quranh.com and as an app for Android and iOS. The provider is IOQ Software, Ihab Oweis, Lessingstraße 48, 47166 Duisburg, Germany, email info@quranh.com (see the legal notice).
These terms apply to every use of QuranH, with or without an account, in the browser and in the app. The app points this out to you before you sign in and before you register. If you use QuranH without signing in, they apply just the same. How we handle your data is described in the privacy policy.
You use QuranH in one of two ways: without signing in, as a guest, or with an account that you create with an email address and password and open with the same details. There are no other ways, such as signing in with Apple or Google.
§ 2 What QuranH offers
QuranH helps you memorise the Quran: with daily lessons using the chain method, reviews at the right time, recitation as audio, translations and a mushaf view. Which features QuranH has can change, under "Changes to QuranH".
Using QuranH is free of charge. QuranH shows no advertising and sells nothing. If we want to offer something that costs money in future, we agree that with you expressly beforehand; these terms oblige you to make no payment.
We strive for trouble-free operation but do not owe constant availability. Faults and outages of the services QuranH uses can limit use for a time.
§ 3 Use without an account
You can use QuranH in full without an account. Your progress and settings are then kept only in the browser or the app on this device.
If you clear the storage of the browser or the app, remove the app or change device, your progress is gone. We cannot restore it, because we never received it. Without an account there is no sync between devices, no groups, no classes and no feedback.
§ 4 One account for QuranH and mutunh.com
An account is optional. If you create one, it works for both our apps, QuranH and mutunh.com: you sign in to both with the same credentials. If you create another account with different credentials, it is a separate account, and this section applies to each account on its own.
Keep your credentials secret and do not let anyone else use your account. If you suspect that someone else has access to it, please write to us straight away at info@quranh.com.
If you delete your account, it is deleted in both apps, together with the progress you saved with it in QuranH and mutunh.com. Deletion cannot be undone. Data we are required by law to keep is deleted only once that period ends. You delete your account on the Delete account page; we also delete a blocked account at your request. If you remove one or both apps from your device, your account remains.
If we block your account under these terms, it is blocked in both apps, because it is one account. We therefore block it only if a milder measure is not enough, and we take into account that you can no longer use mutunh.com either. We announce a block beforehand and give the reason; only where that cannot be expected of us, for example a criminal offence or an attack on our servers, do we block at once and tell you afterwards. If we discontinue QuranH or end only your use of QuranH, your account remains for mutunh.com.
Your use of QuranH is governed by these terms. They apply to mutunh.com only insofar as this section governs the shared account.
§ 5 Sync between devices
With an account, QuranH syncs your progress and settings with the cloud through Supabase (see the privacy policy). Sync needs a connection and works on a best-effort basis: it can be delayed or fail.
If two devices have different states, QuranH merges them by fixed rules, and one state can be replaced by another in the process. You have no claim to constant sync. For loss of data, the section "Liability" applies.
§ 6 Age
You create an account yourself from the age of 16. If you are younger, it needs the consent of your parents or guardians. As a guest you can use QuranH at any age; children are best off using it together with their parents or guardians.
§ 7 Your licence to use the app
You may use QuranH for yourself on your devices. This right is non-exclusive and not transferable. The app, its design and its texts remain our work.
You may not sell, rent or modify QuranH or extract content automatically, including for training AI. What copyright law permits, such as a backup copy, stays permitted.
§ 8 Quran text, audio and other third-party content
Text, fonts, translations, word-by-word data, tajweed colours and audio come from third parties and are subject to their terms. The origin and licence of each source are in the legal notice under "Data sources". We load the audio from verses.quran.com and audio.qurancdn.com (Quran Foundation), audio-cdn.tarteel.ai (Tarteel), everyayah.com and mirrors.quranicaudio.com; which service is asked depends on the reciter you choose.
You may use this content in QuranH for yourself and non-commercially. You may not download it in larger amounts, pass it on, publish it, extract it with programs or use it commercially. The rights remain with the rights holders.
If one of these services fails or changes, that is a reason for a change under "Changes to QuranH".
§ 9 Accuracy, not a ruling
We check text, word boundaries, the cut of the learning cards, audio timings and tajweed colours carefully. Mistakes are still possible. Check what you memorise against a printed mushaf or with a teacher. You can report mistakes to info@quranh.com or through the feedback in the app; we correct them without promising a deadline.
QuranH is a learning tool and not a source of religious rulings: no fatwa, no advice on matters of faith and no substitute for a teacher, for instance for tajweed, pronunciation or ijaza. Translations convey the meaning and are not the Quran itself.
An algorithm calculates your learning plan and the times of your reviews. We promise you no learning success; streaks, trophies and forecasts are displays, not promises.
§ 10 Groups and prizes
Groups exist only with an account. These terms and the rules the app shows when you found or join a group apply to them. A group may not ask for money or a stake for taking part.
The leader of a group sets the prizes and awards them; that is a promise from the leader to the members. QuranH is not a party, pays nothing out and checks no prizes.
§ 11 Classes and teachers
Classes exist only with an account. A teacher sees of their students only what the app shows them in a list before they join and what they have expressly agreed to (see the privacy policy). As a student you can leave the class at any time; the teacher then sees nothing more of you.
Whoever leads a class uses what they see about students only for the class, does not pass it on and is responsible for their own handling of it. If they invite students under 16, they make sure that the parents or guardians have agreed.
§ 12 Your content
Your display name, your profile picture, your suggestions and the names of your groups and classes belong to you. You allow us to store them, transmit them and show them to you and to the people you invite. We do nothing else with them. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account.
If you invite others to a group or class with a link or code, they see what the privacy policy names for that case, and no more.
If you make a feature request public, other users see it after our approval, with your display name. The permission covers that as well.
What you publish, you may publish: you hold the rights to it, and it harms no one.
§ 13 Reporting illegal content
If you consider content in groups, in classes or in public suggestions illegal, write to info@quranh.com. Tell us where the content is, why you consider it illegal, and your name and email address, unless it concerns child sexual abuse material. Confirm that you make your notice in good faith and that it is accurate and complete.
We confirm receipt, review the notice carefully and tell you what we decided and how you can challenge it.
§ 14 What happens after a breach
If content breaks the law or these terms, we remove it or make it invisible. For repeated or serious breaches we can block you from groups, classes or feedback and, if that is not enough, block your account.
If we remove content, we tell you afterwards. We announce a block beforehand, give the reason, and you can respond before we decide. Only where that cannot be expected of us, for example a criminal offence or an attack on our servers, do we block at once and tell you afterwards.
We decide case by case and take into account how serious the breach is, how often it happened and whether it was deliberate. You learn what we did, why, which rule we rely on and how you can object.
If you think a decision is wrong, reply to our notice within six months. We will then review the case again. Your right to go to court stays unaffected.
§ 15 Reporting and blocking in the app
In the app you can report public suggestions, names of groups and classes and prizes, and block people. The QuranH team reviews reports; the procedure is in the sections "Reporting illegal content" and "What happens after a breach". Whoever was reported or blocked does not learn by whom.
The app does not accept names containing words from our list of impermissible words. So that feedback is readable in all app languages, a language model translates it automatically; such a translation can be wrong.
§ 16 Reminders and notifications
QuranH sends reminders and notifications on a best-effort basis, and only if you have allowed them in the app or on your phone. We owe neither delivery nor a particular time. You can switch them off at any time.
§ 17 Website, app and stores
The website and the apps for Android and iOS are the same service. If you download the app from Google Play or the App Store, the terms of the store also apply. We, not Google or Apple, are the provider of QuranH and responsible for the app; you direct questions about the app to us.
§ 18 Apple App Store
If you download QuranH from the App Store, Apple's standard EULA also applies. It and these terms apply side by side; if they conflict, these terms prevail.
§ 19 Defects and updates
The statutory rules apply to defects of the app. We provide updates that keep QuranH secure and working, and tell you in the app or in the store when one matters. If you do not install such an update, we are not liable for defects it would have fixed.
§ 20 Changes to QuranH
QuranH keeps developing. Beyond what is needed to keep it free of defects, we change the app only for a valid reason: new laws or store requirements, security, a service we use changing or ending, or to improve features. This costs you nothing.
If a change affects your use of QuranH more than slightly, we tell you in good time beforehand, clearly, with what changes and when, by email and, if you have no account, in the app. You can then cancel free of charge within 30 days of the change.
§ 21 Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act, if we fraudulently concealed a defect, and where we gave a guarantee.
For slight negligence we are only liable if we breach an obligation without which QuranH cannot be used and on which you may rely, and only for the typical, foreseeable damage.
For content that others publish in groups, in classes or in public suggestions, we are liable under the statutory rules, that is only once we know of illegal content.
These rules also apply to the liability of our legal representatives and agents. Your rights in case of defects stay unaffected by this section.
§ 22 Ending your use
You can stop at any time and delete your account (see delete account).
We can end the use with 30 days' notice. For good cause, for example under the rules in "What happens after a breach", we can end it without notice. If we shut QuranH down entirely, we announce it in the app at least 30 days beforehand. You can get your data before the end on request at info@quranh.com (Articles 15 and 20 GDPR).
§ 23 What remains after deletion
If you delete your account, we delete the data attached to it. What remains afterwards is also stated in the privacy policy under "Storage period" and on the Delete account page: usage statistics with no link to you (the entries are kept for 12 months, after which we combine them into daily counts that cannot be assigned to anyone), technical error reports for 90 days, emails about the account for up to 30 days at the sending service, technical logs for up to 7 days and server logs for about 180 days. Nothing remains of classes.
What happens to your groups and classes is stated on the Delete account page. Deletion cannot be undone, and there is no backup.
§ 24 Change of provider
We may transfer this contract to another company that continues QuranH. We tell you at least 30 days beforehand and name the company. If you do not agree, you can cancel and delete your account before the transfer.
§ 25 Changes to these terms
We change these terms only when laws, case law or store requirements change, when we add or change features, or when a rule is unclear. In this way we change neither what QuranH offers you at its core nor the core of this contract.
We send you a new version at least six weeks before it is to apply, in the app and, if you have an account, by email. We tell you what changes, that you can object, and that the new version applies if you do not object by that date. If you object, the previous version keeps applying to you; we may then end the free use under "Ending your use".
If something changes beyond that, we ask you explicitly in the app, and the new version only applies once you agree.
§ 26 Dispute resolution
If you have a concern, write to us first at info@quranh.com. We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer dispute resolution body.
§ 27 Applicable law and jurisdiction
German law applies. If you live in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country. If you live in the EU, you can also sue us there. If you are a merchant or a legal entity under public law, the place of jurisdiction is Duisburg.
§ 28 Languages
These terms exist in German, English and Arabic. All three versions have equal standing. In the other languages of the app we show the English version.
§ 29 If a rule is invalid
If a rule in these terms is invalid, the others remain valid. The statutory rules take the place of the invalid one.
